Developing leaders in your Life Group
Developing Leaders in your Life group
These suggestions were shared by Helen Crosher, an experienced women’s Life Group leader, at our May 2022 Life Group Leaders Long Lunch …
As a leader, start with the mindset that leaders grow leaders – ie try to work myself out of a job!
Always emphasise Body/Team ministry within the Life Group
Refuse to be and do everything – purposefully leave gaps for others to fill
Delegate tasks
Opening and Closing prayer
Christmas Party
Morning Tea
Organise special presents
Have two co-leaders co-carrying the leadership load and leading when I am away
Encourage everyone that they could lead a group – treat them all like leaders
Provide opportunities for others to lead Life Group around a specific theme/teaching both when I am there and when I am away.
Ask the question, “Who wants a go at leading?”
Have a five-minute slot for someone to share something they have prepared around our current theme
Encourage everyone to provide Pastoral care and prayer for each other within their friendships during Life Group and outside group time.
Encourage everyone to pray aloud, as they feel lead, when we pray for someone/something as a group.
Always promote and encourage Life Group Leaders Training & Bible College
Offer to mentor them
Provide opportunities for everyone to share their testimony in Life Group
Split into 4 small groups for discussion and prayer after watching a DVD study and have someone lead each of these groups.
